The Spanish graphic industry trade fair strengthens its synergy with packaging once again
Graphispag and Hispack to be held together in May 2027
Graphispag and Hispack, the two leading events for the graphic and packaging industries in Spain, will once again take place together from May 4 to 7, 2027, at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue. This strategic alignment will enhance the appeal of both events and showcase the latest innovations in materials, printing, packaging, and labeling technologies across multiple sectors, creating key synergies to drive market growth.
This decision was made in agreement with the Spanish Association of Suppliers for the Printing, Graphic Industry, and Visual Communication Sector (AESI) of the Graphispack Association. This move reinforces Graphispag and Hispack’s role as essential platforms for business, innovation, and networking in Spain’s printing and packaging industries. Likewise, work has already begun on developing synergies between these two important economic sectors.
Organized by Fira de Barcelona, Graphispag 2027 will bring together exhibitors in Hall 1 of the Gran Via venue, where they will present materials, consumables, graphic substrates, printing machinery and technology, as well as finishing, binding, and transformation equipment. Its exhibition will target both graphic services and visual communication companies, as well as other industrial sectors seeking more personalized and sustainable printing solutions, including packaging. The show will also feature dedicated activities aimed at providing insights into trends and high-value printing applications.
Meanwhile, Hispack, celebrating its 20th edition, will occupy Halls 2 and 3 of the Gran Via venue. Fira de Barcelona’s packaging, process, and logistics exhibition will showcase the latest packaging technologies, materials, and solutions, considering their full life cycle and connections with other production and supply chain processes.
A long-standing relationship
This is not the first time both events have been held simultaneously. In 2022, they successfully took place together, yielding highly positive results. However, in spring 2024, their co-celebration was not possible due to the proximity of Drupa, the world’s leading print fair, which led to Graphispag being rescheduled to October. That edition gathered nearly a hundred exhibitors and more than 11,000 visitors. It is also worth noting that Graphispag and Hispack originally started together in 1966 under the name “Graphispack.” Graphic arts and packaging shared the same trade fair space until 1983, when Hispack became independent, and both shows began their separate journeys.
With this renewed alliance with Hispack, Graphispag 2027 will put a strong focus on packaging printing—one of the fastest-growing segments of the graphic market. In this regard, consulting firm Smithers estimates that printing for containers, packaging, and labels will maintain a compound annual growth rate of 3.6% in both volume and value through 2029, reaching a total of $618.2 billion worldwide, with a production of 17.1 billion A4 prints.
Given these promising prospects, Graphispag will showcase innovations in various printing systems for packaging, containers, and labels, including large-scale and limited-edition customization, new designs and finishes to enhance brand presence, rapid packaging prototyping, printed sensors for smart labels, anti-counterfeiting systems, and product quality indicators—among other solutions the graphic sector offers to the packaging industry.
In addition, Graphispag will highlight graphic and visual communication products and services for sectors such as publishing, advertising, large-format printing, retail, and interior design, emphasizing personalization, sustainability, automation, and high-value-added finishes.
With this joint event, Graphispag visitors will also benefit from Hispack’s extensive commercial offerings in materials, labeling, coding and industrial marking, Point of Sale (POS) advertising, flexographic printing, premium and luxury packaging, industrial packaging, and e-commerce solutions.
Permanent industry engagement
In the meantime, Graphispag will stay in close contact with the more than 60 graphic industry entities supporting its initiative to ensure the next edition meets the needs of companies and professionals in graphic services, packaging printing, and other industries relying on graphic and visual communication solutions.
In this regard, Fira de Barcelona is already working on a program of training activities and networking opportunities to foster knowledge and collaboration in the graphic market. One of the first confirmed initiatives is the Impulso Conference, organized in collaboration with AESI and the Graphispack Association, set to resume on April 9 at the headquarters of the Gremi d’Indústries Gràfiques de Catalunya.
